The role of an HOA board is to:
Manage the affairs of the Home Owners Association (HOA) in accordance with the association's governing documents, which typically include bylaws, covenants, conditions, and restrictions (CC&Rs), and rules and regulations.
Enforcement of these documents, collecting dues and assessments from homeowners, and overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of the community's common areas and amenities.
SPECIFIC DUTIES OF AN HOA BOARD MAY INCLUDE
Enforcement of the association's governing documents, including rules and regulations related to architectural control, use of common areas, and maintenance of individual properties in accordance with the association’s governing documents. Governing documents typically include bylaws, covenants, conditions and restrictions (CC&Rs), and rules and regulations.
Stewardship of the association's finances, including collecting assessments from homeowners, creating and managing a budget, and hiring contractors or vendors as necessary.
Overseeing maintenance and upkeep of the community's common areas and amenities to preserve and maintain the value of the property.
Communicating with homeowners about the activities and decisions of the association, including any changes to policies or procedures.
Working with homeowners to resolve disputes or concerns related to the association or the community.
Planning and executing long-term projects, such as capital improvements or updates to the association's governing documents.
Make decisions on behalf of the association, such as hiring contractors or making changes to the community's bylaws.
